It is a well known for maintaining a constant temperature and is the best extinguisher. People prone to this cancer are construction workers, plumbers, electricians, people working in mines etc. Asbestos cancer recurrence rate is higher as there is no treatment available which guarantees a successful elimination of the tumor from the body. There are many studies that are being conducted for treatment and diagnosis of this tumor. The latest research includes a therapy called Dendrites Cell Therapy which helps to discover if any foreign substance is present in the body and increases the number of cancer fighting cells.

American Centre of Cancer Research states that more than 30,000 people are diagnosed with this tumor every year. This tumor mostly occurs in males in the age group 0f 30 to 45 years. The symptoms of asbestos cancer are mostly identical to those of lung cancer and so it can be mistakenly diagnosed as lung cancer.

While studying about asbestos cancer recurrence, it is very important to know the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of this tumor

Symptoms of Asbestos Cancer:

  • Headache
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Constant fever
  • Body ache
  • Jaundice
  • Massive chest pain
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Constant weight loss

Diagnosis:

For diagnosing this tumor, various tests such as blood tests, MRI, X-rays and other routine tests are conducted. Besides this, there are other special tests which include Laparoscopy, Thorascopy, Thorasenticis and Biopsy

Treatment:

Treatment of this tumor includes various techniques such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biological therapy and palliative therapy. This treatments help to destroy the tumor and eradicate the tumor cells from our body completely. It is observed that in asbestos cancer, the recurrence rate is much higher than other cancers. In order to avoid recurrence, it is very important to follow the schedule of visits which the doctor has given after the completion of the treatment. In these visits, various tests are conducted and the recurrence of the tumor is examined. The doctor also advises you to examine if any symptoms of the tumor are observed.

Asbestos Cancer Recurrence types:

The biggest complication of asbestos cancer is that the tumor tends to reoccur. In surgery, the tumor is completely removed from the body along with the malignant cells and some medications are prescribed. After the course of these medications is over, the tumor tends to reoccur. This happens because the tumor cells cannot be removed completely from the body.

Recurrence is generally classified into:

  • Local recurrence
  • Regional Recurrence
  • Distant Recurrence

Local Recurrence:

In this type of recurrence, the tumor develops in the place of origin and has not affected other areas near the origin. This is considered as the basic level of recurrence and the first stage of the tumor.

Regional recurrence:

In this type of recurrence, the tumor recurs in the origin and starts affecting the nearby lymph nodes. Due to this, the tumor starts spreading to other parts of the body through bloodstream.

Distant recurrence:

In this type of recurrence, the tumor attains the level of severity. At this stage, the tumor has complete control over your body and again techniques like radiation therapy and chemotherapy have to be assessed.

Recurrence generally depends upon the stage of the tumor. Recurrence varies according to the characteristics and the type of the tumor, its level of severity and the period after your treatment. Sometimes, surgery is followed by chemotherapy in which certain drugs are prescribed which kills the malignant cells that are left behind after the surgery is performed. If the recurrence attains severe stage, radiation therapy can be an ideal treatment.

Treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy are the most recommended treatments for the cure of this tumor as there is no chance of asbestos cancer recurrence after these treatments are completed. Even though, chemotherapy has various side effects they can be kept under control with the help of nutritional therapy of asbestos cancer.
