As per the location of the cancer cells in the patient's pancreas, the pancreatic cancer has been classified into two types. They are as stated below.

  • Adenocarcinoma: When cancer cells are formed in the pancreas component, which is called as the exocrine, it is known as the 'neuroendocrine tumor'

  • Neuroendocrine tumor: When the cancer cells are formed in the cells which are known as the islet cells, it is known as the neuroendocrine tumor

The pancreas of every individual is situated near his stomach. It forms the part of the human digestive system. The pancreas is supposed to be 2 inches in width and 6 inches in length. There are two types of glands in the pancreas. These are the 'exocrine and endocrine glands'.

  • Exocrine glands: The quantity of the exocrine glands present in the pancreas is much more than the endocrine glands. The exocrine glands perform the necessary function of creating the pancreatic juice in the human body.

  • Endocrine glands: The quantity of the endocrine glands is very less??in the pancreas. The endocrine glands form a structure of cells which is named as the 'islet cells'. They prepare the insulin in the human body.

Pancreatic cancer is a rare type of cancer. It is the formation of the abnormal cancer cells which multiply in the human pancreas and result in the pancreatic cancer.
