The pancreatic cancer is formed in the pancreas of the patient. The cancer is nothing but the abnormal cells which spread or multiply in the patient's pancreas. The pancreatic cancer has been divided into two types on the basis of where it forms. The two types are:

Adenocarcinoma- When the cancer cells forms inside the patient's exocrine, it is known as the adenocarcinoma. The exocrine is a component of the pancreas.

Neuroendocrine tumor- When the cancer cells forms inside the islet cells, it is called as the neuroendocrine tumor

The pancreas:

An organ that is about 2 inches wide and almost 6 inches long and is situated near the stomach, deep inside the abdomen is called as the pancreas. It is a part of the digestive system. The pancreas has two types of glands in it. They are:

  • Exocrine glands: A large number of cells from the exocrine glands are present in the pancreas. The exocrine glands are responsible for preparing the pancreatic juice. The juice helps to break the proteins and fats from the diet of a person to use them.
  • Endocrine glands: A small amount of the endocrine glands are present the pancreas of a person. The cluster of such cells is formed. This cluster of cells is known as the islet cells. The endocrine glands are responsible for preparing insulin in the human body.

A long term of study shows that the pancreatic cancer is supposed to be the fourth most harmful cancer type. The cancer in the pancreas is seen more in men than in women. It is necessary to undergo the right treatment measures in order to cure the disease.
