Other tests conducted for diagnosis include blood tests and chest X-rays. Metoscopy is also conducted for the diagnosis of this tumor

Skin cancer treatment:

Skin cancer treatment involves several techniques which help to remove the tumor cells from the body successfully. It is very important to perform the treatment as soon as the tumor is diagnosed. Removal of this tumor at early stages helps to prevent skin cancer recurrence. Different treatments performed for this tumor are as follows:

  • Surgery
  • Cryotherapy
  • Topical chemotherapy
  • Radiotherapy
  • Photodynamic therapy
  • Topical immunotherapy

Explanation of skin cancer treatment:

  • Surgery:

Before performing this procedure, a local anesthesia is given to the patient. In this treatment, a small layer of the skin at the location is removed. Then the tumor and all the cancer cells are successfully removed from the body part. Sometimes, if the tumor is larger in size the skin is replaced by flaps. Flaps are healthy layers of the skin that are removed from other person's skin. Sometimes, if the tumor has affected the lymph nodes then a surgery has to be performed to remove these lymph nodes.

  • Cryotherapy:

In this treatment, liquid nitrogen is injected near the location of the tumor. This liquid instantly freezes the tumor and the malignant cells. This treatment is generally performed to treat small skin tumors.

  • Topical Chemotherapy:

This treatment involves the use of cream to remove the tumor and the malignant. A chemotherapy cream is prescribed which includes a drug called FU. This cream is applied at the location of the tumor. This cream destroys the tumor and the malignant cells.

  • Radiotherapy:

In this type of treatment, radiation waves are used to destroy the tumor cells. This treatment is generally performed in the areas of the face where surgeries cannot be performed. Highly transmissible radioactive waves are passed through the area of the tumor. These waves destroy the tumor cells in a rapid manner.

  • Photodynamic Therapy:

This treatment is also known as PDT. In this treatment, light sensitive drugs are combined with light sources. These drugs destroy the tumor and the malignant cells from the area of occurrence.

  • Topical immunotherapy:

This treatment involves the use of a cream called imiquimod to destroy the tumor cells. This cream helps to destroy the tumor and the malignant cells with the help of the immune system.

These skin cancer treatments are widely used to destroy the tumor cells from the body as they are safe and have no side effects on our body. These techniques are followed with the prescription of some medicines which help to prevent the recurrence of the tumor.
