Throat cancer is a type of tumor that occurs in the area of throat. The malignant cells of this tumor attack the inner lining of the throat due to which this tumor gets developed. This tumor kills more than 30, 000 people in America every year. Excessive smoking, tobacco consumption and alcohol consumption are considered as the main causes of this tumor. Symptoms of this cancer when detected at early stages help to eradicate the tumor successfully from our body. Throat cancer treatment includes various techniques which help to remove the tumor successfully from our body. Some of the indirect causes of this tumor include constant exposure to Ultraviolet radiations, human papillomavirus and leukoplakia. This is followed by X-rays, MRIs , CT scan, Biopsy and Metascopy. Biopsy and Metascopy help to give an accurate idea about the type of tumor and its spread throughout the body.

  • Surgery:-

    This technique involves removal of the tumor in a surgical manner. In this technique, the location of the tumor is cut and the tumor and malignant cells are removed completely. Further some medications are prescribed which guaranteed successful removal of the tumor from the body. A research conducted by Stamford University shows that there are 7 to 8 percent chances of recurrence of the tumor even after the treatment is performed.

  • Chemotherapy:-

    Chemotherapy involves the use of drugs for removal of the tumor. In this treatment, special drugs are prescribed. These drugs travel throughout the body and destroy the tumor and the widespread of malignant cells. This treatment is set in certain time intervals and cannot be carried away for a prolonged period of time. If continued for a long time, these drugs can have enormous effects on the body. Some of the side effects of these drugs include hair loss, appetite loss, skin allergies, rashes over skin etc. This therapy is combined with chemotherapy to cure advance stages of this tumor.

  • Radiation therapy:-

    Radiation therapy is considered as one of the highly recommended treatments for throat cancer cure. In this therapy highly transmissible radioactive waves are used for removing the tumor. These waves travel throughout the body and destroy the tumor and widespread of the malignant cells. This treatment has no side effects in the long run and so it can be performed successfully. There are no chances of recurrence after this treatment is performed.

  • Targeted therapy:-

    In this therapy, certain medications are prescribed which targets the cancerous cells and block their growth. Later, all the cancerous cells are removed with the help of surgery. The advantage of this therapy is that it leaves the normal cells behind unharmed and also has zero side effects. Nowadays, more preference is given to this therapy if the tumor is detected at early stages.

  • Photodynamic therapy :-

    This treatment is also known as PDT. In this treatment, a combination of special drugs which include photosensitizing agents and light is used. With the help of this laser light, a proper therapeutic wavelength is created. Drugs prescribed include photosensitive drugs which are absorbed by the malignant cells. This combination destroys the tumor and the spread of malignant cells throughout the body.

Throat cancer treatment helps to cure the tumor and removes the malignant cells completely from the body. Throat cancer cure techniques should be conducted as soon as the tumor gets diagnosed. If the disease gets diagnosed in the advanced stages, chemotherapy and radiation therapies are conducted as they destroy the cancerous cells within less time.
